Trey Sims
Hello! My name is Trey Sims. I am currently a sophomore from Louisville, KY majoring in Mechanical Engineering and a member of the 8th Bike4Alz team.
I first heard about Bike4Alz when I joined the Chi Eta chapter of FIJI at WKU and it has been something that has encompassed my mind ever since. Ever since I joined the chapter, it has been my goal to participate in Bike4Alz and I’m super excited to have that opportunity this year. From listening to former riders’ stories about their experiences to having a personal connection to the disease, there were many factors that drove me to ride. Past riders’ stories and ties to the disease really opened my eyes to the severity of Alzheimer’s, which is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States.
I have been inspired to ride through my personal ties to the disease through members of my family. I’ve had numerous members of my family be affected through Alzheimer’s which has given me the internal motivation to pursue this ride. In addition, I am riding to give support to families who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease. Much like how my family has been supported through rough times, I am honored to reciprocate that to countless families across the country. I strive to save those memories families hold so dear and to ride coast to coast to end Alzheimer’s.
