Cole Shanks

Howdy, my name is Cole Shanks. I am a Junior at Western Kentucky University from Greenville, KY studying Chemistry and Biology. After college, I plan on pursuing a career in Research Pharmacy where I hope to continue my fight to End Alzheimer’s disease.

In advocating and raising funds on this trip I would like to be able to be a part of the reason that the next generation might not know how to spell “Alzheimer’s”.

As a rider, I want to not only ride for the victims that have the disease but for the vast amount of families captured as victims through the emotional, cognitive, and physical impact of Alzheimer’s. I have experienced the long-lasting effects of this disease by watching my mother in fear for my granny. In every forgotten meal, or conversation said twice I see a tear in my mom’s eyes. I can still see the fear they carry from watching my great-grandmother suffer and die to the disease. I am honored to be able to ride because I want to peddle a little closer to a cure. I don’t want anyone to have to live in the fear that I’ve seen my family live in. It’s time to continue our fight to #EndAlz
